Second week report - 91% funded!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Mar 30, 2018 at 12:37:27 PM

Hello Awesome Backers!

Two weeks down and we are now 91% funded! I simply cannot believe it....

While we are going great guns, we would really love your support to push us over the line, even if it means simply sharing our campaign on your social media.

The last week was a lot slower than the first week but I'm confident we will be funded by the end of next week and will be shooting for the first stretch goal (a free preview of issue two) by the final week.

I can't believe how close we are to being funded and to finally publishing this comic that we have been working on for 18 months!

Thanks again for your support. We could not have done any of this without you guys!

Australian comic book campaigns currently live on Kickstarter
about 6 years ago – Tue, Mar 27, 2018 at 09:24:43 AM

Hi guys,

Things are going very well with the THE RESURRECTED campaign, where we are already 80 percent funded. So I thought I'd take a quick breather and point you towards some very cool Australian comic book campaigns currently doing the rounds on Kickstarter. The story summaries are taken from the relevant Kickstarter pages.

Decay by Darren Koziol

DECAY is Australia’s version of Heavy Metal, 2000AD and Tales From the Crypt, all combined in unbelievable, unimaginable, bizarre, extreme, bigger than life, exaggerated, over the top blood, guts and gore!

If haven't read DECAY before, don't worry - every issue stands alone - you can enjoy any issue of DECAY in one sitting. There are some great back issue options in the reward levels too. DECAY #24 is the FINAL issue in this stunning series!

Bloody Gore Comix 2018 Horror Comics Anthology by Steph Dumais

Aussies Steve Carter and Antoinette Rydyr have a story in this anthology.

A few years ago, when Bloody Gore Comix was born, the original mission was to publish further issues of Steph Dumais' Zombie Commandos From Hell! sci-ifi/horror series, along with Adam Geyer's The Old Shits and Will Broad's (aka Skaar) Carnigor. More creators joined our ranks, including the venerable S.C.A.R. with Spore Whores and the upcoming Kill of the Spyderwoman. It was only natural, surrounded by such talent, that an anthology would see the day. Our first anthology featured ultra violent comics from our creators, along with a plethora of creators from around the world.

The Cats Return - Armoured Science Kung-Fu Cats - Episode 2 by Tom Caffrey

This story about five cats from five different homes with completely different personalities, who one fateful night encounter a mysterious device. The cats are bestowed with advanced alien power suits that gives them seemingly unlimited powers, but without the instructions to use them. The cats are tasked with the quest of keeping both the special suits and the Earth safe from the evil war mongering enemies, who are after the advanced technology to use for their own evil purposes. The story revolves around the cats' discovery of the suits themselves, their day to day lives, and their interactions with their families.

Black & Blue - the Underwater Alien Attack Graphic Novel by Ben Quinlan

99.99% of our population has been taken by a balloon-like alien race. We don't know what they've done with our people, but it can't be good. Luckily, our remaining scientists have discovered the creatures weakness - salt water. Our only choice was to flood the planet, giving them no room to gain a foothold. Now we live in an underwater society, doing our best to forget the ever looming threat floating above the surface.

Variant Cover by Ariela Kristantina and Bryan Valenza
about 6 years ago – Mon, Mar 26, 2018 at 11:09:34 AM

Hello backers! Just a quick post to spotlight the beautiful variant cover that we have on offer as a reward. For you guys who aren't really into mainstream comics, Ariela and Bryan, both from Indonesia, worked on one of my favourite comic books - InSEXts for Aftershock Comics. You should check it out if you ever get the chance.

As a first time indie creator, I was honestly shocked that both agreed to produce this variant cover (which will be published in much smaller numbers than the regular cover, hence the difference in price). It was actually my editor Erica Schultz who recommended Ariela and then Ariela who recommended Bryan. Networks are everything in comics :)

If you pledged for the regular cover but you like the look of the variant, it's possible to upgrade your pledge. You will also have the chance to order these covers after the Kickstarter has ended. Jesus, when I speak like that it reminds me of my days at Maccas when I had to say, "would you like fries with that?"

And if you're a bit of comic art process nerd like me, check out how this cover went from Ariela's black and white line work to Bryan's explosive colours:

Thanks again for your support!

First week report - 75% funded!
about 6 years ago – Sun, Mar 25, 2018 at 07:20:06 AM

Hello backers!

So the rollercoaster first week of my first ever Kickstarter is over. It has been an amazing week and we have achieved far more than we could ever imagine.

Before we kicked this campaign off, I asked my friends and family to pledge as early as possible. And being the legends that you all are, we were 50% funded after only two days, and then 70% after only three days! We then hit 75% today! Things have slowed down a bit now but that was always going to happen.

I also want to thank a bunch of my comic creator friends who have chipped in and also helped me promote. You guys are the best!

I'm certain that we will hit our goal and I think it's possible we will be pushing for some 'stretch goals' going into the final week.

Don't forget that when the campaign ends in three weeks, you will have to fill the surveys out with all your shipping details etc in order to get your rewards. Don't worry I'll email everyone with a reminder.

Thanks again for your support. We could not have done any of this without you guys!

Over 50% funded in just under 48 hours!
about 6 years ago – Mon, Mar 19, 2018 at 06:30:41 AM

Hello backers!

We are now just under 48 hours into the campaign for the first issue of THE RESURRECTED comic book series and we are just over 50% there!

We did not expect such a huge first couple of days so I just want to send out a MASSIVE thank you to those of you who have taken the time to get behind our project so early into our campaign:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2129323534/the-resurrected-1-a-dark-sci-fi-thriller

The hard work is really just beginning though as we still have 50% left to fund and Kickstarter gives us absolutely zero, zilch, nada, if we don't hit our target.

If you are up for it, I'd love you guys to share the link to our campaign with any of your friends that you think may enjoy it:

Thank you again and I can't wait for you all to finally be able to read our comic! Also please feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions or queries about our campaign.

Apologies to those who are on our mailing list and are receiving double updates.
